Location
The Bed & Breakfast /spa private house is located about 80 meters above Lake Lucerne in Meggen, on a private cul de sac road. From the railway station Lucerne it is 6 kilometers to La Tortuga house by car. Lucerne and Meggen are located in central Switzerland alongside one of the most beautiful lakes of Switzerland. Even the palm trees enjoy it here with us. You can easily explore a large part of Switzerland from here. You are also close to the alpine mountains for hiking in summer or skiing in winter.
Getting there by public transport
Those giving us advanced notice of arrival by public transport will be collected by us at the bus stop Schlössli or train station at Meggen and likewise brought there again on departure. The bus stop can be reached from our house in 7-10 min. on foot. Bus nr. 24 takes you to the Verkehrshaus (Museum of transports) in about 7 min. and in about 17 min. you are in Schwanenplatz in the old part of town (for sightseeing and shopping). To the Lucerne main line train station it takes about 23 min.
By car you can either go directly to the city where there are plenty of parking facilities (car-park routeing) or you can park your car in Meggen and take the train (S-Bahn, suburban railway) or bus. Either way , both the transport museum and the main line station can be easily reached.
By car
Via Lucerne:
You follow the A2/A4 via Lucerne North (center). you then follow the signs for "Küssnacht/Verkehrshaus/See), transport museum, Lake. all along the lake, direction to Meggen, which is the first village after Lucerne. In Meggen drive on the main road straight into the village until the second traffic lights. There you turn left and follow up the hill (Schlösslistrasse). After about 600 m there is a T-junction. You turn right into Kreuzbuchstrasse. After about 300 m, turn left into Spissenstrrasse and then immediately turn right into Haltenriedstrasse (cul de sac). La Tortuga, house nr 20, is the 9th house on the right side.
Via Küssnacht:
From Zürich, at about 20 km from Lucerne, take the Gotthard/Schwyz motorway (not Lucerne, otherwise you drive to far and have to go back to Meggen). After a few km take the exit for Küssnacht and follow the main road (no highway) to Lucerne. Drive through Merlischachen (radar 50km/h) and then to Meggen. After the first traffic light in Meggen (at the hotel Kreuz), turn right into Kreuzbuchstrasse and follow up the hill. After about 300 m turn right into Spissenstrasse and then immediately right again into Haltenriedstrasse (cul de sac).
